Low Cost Numismatical Coins
I collect large silver coins such as dollars and crowns which typically contain 1/2 to 3/4 ounce in them. I go for the coins which command 50% to 100% over spot price and are aesthetically pleasing to hold.
I took a rest from buying late last year but went back in a few weeks ago and have noticed a difference. The coin values have followed the price of silver but I seem to detect an extra premium on them perhaps due to higher demand for high silver content coins? I also notice that sellers are now stating how many ounces of silver are in each lot. I wonder if high metal prices will lead to a renaissance in coin collecting? |

I think you make a damn good point. And I myself have noticed this also.

And yes, I do think too that a renaissance in coin collecting is coming. My guess is that numismatic interest is 2-5 years behind gold/silver prices. Another observation I did at this coin show: inexpensive & good quality Roman coins are beginning to be scarce.... But "Modern" coins (years 1500+) were available in good quantity & quality. |
